Colston bun

Colston bun is a traditional sweet bread originating from Bristol. It's made with a combination of flour, butter, sugar, milk, grated orange rind, dried fruit, yeast, and spices such as cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. Once risen, shaped, proved, and marked, the dough is baked until golden brown, and the buns are then glazed with sugar syrup while still warm. The Colston bun is a popular teabread in Bristol, and it's believed that it was named after Edward Colston, a merchant who traded with the West Indies.
