Festy Cock

Festy cock is a traditional dish originating from Scotland. Best described as oatmeal pancake, festy cock is usually made with a combination of finely ground oatmeal, some water, and a bit of salt. In the past, the dish was baked in a kiln in order to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. Once prepared, the mixture is rolled and flattened, then often formed into the shape of a bird. Nowadays, festy cock is mostly baked in an oven until the oats are fully cooked and start to turn golden brown.
