Fichi e robiola is a traditional dish that's typically served as an appetizer. Although there are a few variations, it's usually made with a combination of figs, robiola cheese, honey, salt, pepper, and sometimes pomegranate seeds or dill sprigs (or both). An X shape is cut near the base of each fig, and the hole is then filled with a mixture of robiola, honey, salt, and pepper by using a piping bag. Each fig is often garnished with pomegranate seeds or dill sprigs before the dish is ready to be enjoyed. Fichi e robiola can also be paired with prosciutto crudo and served on a piece of toasted bread for the delicate bruschetta fichi e robiola.
