Mousse jawzia

Mousse jawzia is a whipped meringue dessert made with egg whites, honey, nuts (usually walnuts), and salt. The dessert originated from Constantine in Algeria and was once considered a delicacy reserved only for the nobility and the rich. The egg whites are whipped into a stiff meringue, and the honey is heated to a liquid consistency. The honey is then poured into the meringue while constantly stirring. The resulting meringue is divided between serving bowls and garnished with walnuts. Variations can include the addition of sugar syrup or different flavorings like vanilla. It is recommended that mousse jawzia be served with mint tea.
