Scores as of 2 November 2026. Where a place has more than one review, the score is their average. "Paid" is not a menu price: it is what the reviewer paid on the day, and portion sizes (quarter, half) differ. See the price section below for details. Kokoreççi Hacı Ulus Merkez

Kokoreç coming off the grill at Kokoreççi Hacı Ulus Merkez (September 2025).
Score: 9.14 2 reviews (9.04 and 9.25)
The only kokoreç shop on our list above 9. Both visits praise the same thing: texture. The first review calls it "incredibly soft, melt-in-your-mouth" and notes that cumin is the only spice. The second calls it "a strong contender for the top 1-2 spot in Ankara's kokoreç rankings": "The spices are minimal, the pieces are soft, and they're perfectly cooked."
This is a lunchtime shop. According to the reviews they start making kokoreç in the morning and it runs out around 2-3 p.m., which matches the listed opening hours.
One more note from the December 2025 review: the shop used to be inside the fire station square and has moved to the corner by the AKM metro exit. Check the location on the place page before you go.
- Paid: 300 TL (September 2025), 270 TL (December 2025)
- Hours: Monday to Saturday 11:30-14:30, closed Sunday
- Listed address: Hacı Bayram, Temmuz Sk. No:20, Ulus
- Tip: The reviewer recommends ordering several quarter portions in a row instead of one big one, so each arrives hot.

A quarter kokoreç at Kokoreççi Hacı, Anıttepe (May 2026).
Score: 7.99 1 review
The safe central pick, on Gençlik Caddesi. "A good kokoreç, above average. It arrived hot and fresh." The one complaint is fat: "I ate a quarter portion; I couldn't have eaten more anyway because of the fat." It was also the cheapest kokoreç anyone paid for on this list.
- Paid: 210 TL, quarter (May 2026)

Vampir Sokak Lezzetleri, Çayyolu
Score: 5.92 2 reviews (5.25 and 6.58)
Our reviewer called it the famous kokoreç of a famous food spot, but neither critic was won over. The first found it under-seasoned, undercooked and not chopped enough. The second: "The kokorec was hard and dry, coarsely chopped," with bread that was "unnecessarily thick". The same reviewer thought the price reflected the location.
- Paid: 320 TL (September 2025), 420 TL (September 2025)

Berlin Kokoreç & Sokak Lezzetleri, Çayyolu

The newest place on the list. Good outside, not inside: "The wrapping is nicely cooked and crispy, but the inside is overcooked and tough." The reviewer also found it expensive.
- Paid: 350 TL (August 2026)

Kokoreçci Dursun Usta, Nasuh Akar
Score: 5.54 1 review
An interesting method: after the oven, the kokoreç goes back over charcoal embers before it is served, which brings back the old ember flavour. The reviewer found the spices fresh and well balanced. What dragged the score down was the amount: half a loaf, and they remember only two bites of kokoreç in it.

The reviewer tried the "uzay" (space) kokoreç here: "The kokoreç was generally dry. It wasn't soft inside and didn't melt in my mouth." Still, for someone who likes trying kokoreç, it was a pleasant experience. The most expensive quarter on the list.
- Paid: 420 TL, quarter (June 2026)

Kokoreçci Berat Usta

A quarter kokoreç at Kokoreçci Berat Usta (January 2026).
Score: 7.35 3 reviews (9, 8.04 and 5)
The most reviewed kokoreç shop on the list, and the most divided. The critic who gave 9 says it "easily makes it into my top 3" in Ankara and recommends both the tandoor and the grilled kokoreç: "The bread is generously filled." The 8.04 came from a late-night visit with the large-cut kokoreç: "It was very nicely fried." The 5 came on a bad day: "It was burnt, it tasted burnt. Only the seasoning was good."
On a good day it is top three in Ankara. Ask for it cooked the way you like it.
- Paid: 350 TL (August 2025), 220 TL quarter (January 2026), 250 TL quarter (May 2026)

Tasty, with a queue. "The kokoreç was still tasty and good," but it is chopped very finely, so there is no bite to it, and the filling is smaller than at other shops. The real warning is the wait: "We waited in line for 20-30 minutes to get it, so it's not worth that much."

FİORE Kokoreç & Sucuk & Köfte, Eryaman

Finely chopped kokoreç at FİORE (June 2026).
Score: 6.85 2 reviews (7.6 and 6.1)
Two critics, two days apart, two different meals. The 7.6: "They sliced it thinly, I liked that. The spices and aroma were nice," and in the end "better than most kokoreç I've eaten." The 6.1 found it "quite dry and difficult to finish," with the spice drowning out everything else.
- Paid: 360 TL (June 2026), 250 TL (June 2026)

Koçak Kokoreç, Eryaman
Score: 6.14 2 reviews (6.28 and 6.01)
Two critics, same day, same verdict: ordinary. One said it would have been hard to swallow without ayran, the bread was hard and the seasoning light, though the cooking was right, and Doğata was better in that reviewer's view. The other had a half portion: "It was completely ordinary, nothing special about it." Both liked the same thing: unlimited, varied pickles.
- Paid: 350 TL (May 2026), 350 TL half (May 2026)

Same Name, Three Different Scores
Three shops called "Kokoreççi Hacı" sit in three very different places on our list:
- Ulus Merkez: 9.14, first
- Anıttepe: 7.99, second
- Eryaman: 4.07, last
That is a five-point gap. It is why BiteCritic scores the dish at each branch, not the brand. Look at the plate, not the sign.
What Is Kokoreç?
Kokoreç is a Turkish street food made from lamb intestines wrapped around a skewer and turned slowly over charcoal. Once cooked it is chopped on a griddle, seasoned with cumin, chilli flakes and oregano, and usually served in half a loaf of bread.
A few words you will hear when ordering in Ankara:
- Çeyrek, yarım, tam: quarter, half or whole loaf. Most of our critics ordered a quarter.
- İnce kıyım, iri kıyım: fine or coarse chop. Fine chop lost points at Doğata and Koçak and won praise at FİORE. The coarse chop at Berat Usta was a hit.
- Tandır and ızgara: tandoor or grill. Berat Usta does both, and the critic who gave 9 recommends both.
- Köz: embers. At Dursun Usta the kokoreç goes back over embers after the oven.
Ordering tips from our critics
- Order quarters, one after another. Both Ulus reviews say to eat it hot, a quarter at a time.
- Get an ayran. The Koçak review says a dry kokoreç is hard to get down without one.
- Say how you want it cooked. The same shop (Berat Usta) scored 9 one day and 5 with a burnt taste another.
- Check the hours. The best-scored kokoreç sells out by early afternoon. For evenings and late nights, see the list below.

How We Score
- Real visits: Every review is for a kokoreç the reviewer went and ate. The visit date and the amount paid are recorded on each one.
- The dish only: The score is for the kokoreç on the plate, not the service, the decor or the parking.
- Out of 10, with decimals: Scores are out of 10 with decimals (for example 9.25). Where a place has several reviews, the table shows their average.
- Branch by branch: Every branch of a brand is scored separately.
- Who wrote them: Of the 17 reviews, 10 are from the BiteCritic team and 7 from other BiteCritic users. None of these places is a BiteCritic partner, and none paid to be on this list.
