Cheese Dream

Cheese dream is basically a variety of the grilled cheese sandwich prepared in an open-faced version. It is typically made with a slice of bread that is topped with a slice of cheese, then broiled until the cheese melts or browns. It can be additionally enriched with ingredients such as eggs, bacon, and tomatoes. The sandwich was first mentioned in print in 1918, but it became popular during the Great Depression. In the past, it was often accompanied by olives, pickles, and a hot tomato sauce on the side.
