Kininaru ringo

This traditional Japanese confectionary hails from Aomori Prefecture and uses the star product of the region – the Fuji apple. The whole apple is soaked in syrup before it is wrapped in flaky pastry and baked until golden and crispy. The confectionary is produced in Hirosaki, but it is traditionally associated with the entire Aomori Prefecture. This apple-based sweet is also a popular regional souvenir.
