Limburger Sandwich

Limburger sandwich is an American creation made with buttered rye bread, mustard, sliced onions, and sliced Limburger cheese (very pungent). The sandwich is typically seasoned with salt and pepper. During the 20th century, Limburger sandwich became a staple of working-class immigrants, especially in Wisconsin. Nowadays, the sandwich is not popular as it was before, but a few restaurants in Wisconsin still offer the Limburger on their menus.
