Masigott
Masigott is a rustic leavened dessert from the city of Erba, nowadays traditionally prepared for the feast of St Euphemia. Made with a mixture of wheat flour, cornflour, yeast, softened butter, sugar, and eggs, this sweet bread is enriched with pine nuts, walnuts, raisins, vanilla, and candied orange zest. The best opportunity to try it is on the third Sunday of October, when the traditional Sagra del Masigott, a festival of masigott, is held on Piazza del Mercato del Comune Lariano, Erba's main square.
