Pitta pizzulata

Pitta pizzulata is a traditional dish originating from Calabria. This cross between a pizza and a focaccia is made with a combination of flour, lard, eggs, dry white wine, tomatoes, pecorino cheese, red chili pepper, and salt. Once prepared, the dough is flattened and topped with the chopped red chili pepper, peeled tomatoes, salt, and small pieces of lard. Pitta pizzulata is then baked in the oven until golden, and it's always served hot.
