Veldt

Veldt is a dense Namibian bread that can be literally translated as bread of the wild. It consists of whole wheat flour, milk, salt, sugar, and warming spices such as cinnamon and ginger. The bread was originally prepared by European settlers who found a way to satiate their hunger with familiar ingredients. The usage of baking powder allows the dough to rise quickly, and it is then placed over a campfire to bake. It is recommended to serve veldt while still hot, preferrably with some butter on the side.
