Apple Frushie

Particularly popular in the west of Scotland, apple frushie is essentially an apple tart flavored with rose water and honey. The term frushie refers to the shortcrust pastry; it is an old Scots word for crumbly or brittle. Apple frushie typically features a beautiful lattice top which reflects the Victorian tradition of decorating. The Scottish people like to enjoy this dessert hot, often with a dollop of a decadent, whisky-infused cream on the side.
