Mantı at Belly Pepper (March 2026).

Score: 8.17 5 reviews (9.71, 9.29, 9.29, 8.29, 4.25)

The best Turkish kitchen in our Amsterdam data, and the place with the highest single score: the mantı scored 9.71 at €20. The balance of meat, dough, spice and yoghurt was right, and the bone marrow on top made it. Mantı is a Thursday dish here. The tiftik (pulled meat) burger scored 9.29 on both visits, hot, with oven potatoes and a homemade chilli sauce. Another member counts it among their favourite Turkish breakfast places in Amsterdam and rates the çılbır 8.29. The one miss: an omelette wrap with avocado and poor sucuk, 4.25.

Atilla Turkish Cuisine, West

Kelle paça soup at Atilla Turkish Cuisine, Amsterdam

Kelle paça soup at Atilla Turkish Cuisine (September 2026).

Score: 8.06 2 reviews (8.74, 7.38)

The best kelle paça in Amsterdam by our scores: 8.74 at €8 in September 2026, well seasoned, plenty of meat that falls apart, and the critic's favourite of the soups here. The döner (7.38, €15) still tastes like home to a critic from Ankara, but it was dry. The tip from a regular: go after 4pm, when the meat is freshly cut.

  • Eaten and paid: Kelle paça soup 8.74, €8 (September 2026); Döner kebab 7.38, €15 (August 2025)

Beré Nali Amsterdam, West

Score: 6.71 2 reviews (8.29, 5.13)

The ıslak hamburger (the soft, sauce-soaked 'wet burger' from Istanbul) scored 8.29 at €17: ketchupy sauce, onions and melted cheese, but small for the price and missing the original's chilli heat. The çılbır the next day got 5.13 after a 35-minute wait: too plain, short on sauce and yoghurt, no garlic.

  • Eaten and paid: Islak hamburger 8.29, €17 (February 2026); Turkish eggs (çılbır) 5.13, €14 (February 2026)

Score: 7.81 2 reviews (8.08, 7.54)

Two baklava reviews, both good. The midye baklava (a mussel-shaped baklava) scored 8.08 at €7: very fresh and full of good pistachio. Order a Turkish tea with it. Another member gave the hadise 7.54 for the pistachio, kaymak and thin pastry. Open from 06:30 (08:30 on Sunday).

Lamb ribs (kuzu kaburga) at Kebaphan Amsterdam (October 2026).

Score: 7.42 2 reviews (8.85, 5.98)

Two lamb dishes in October 2026, two very different scores. The kuzu kaburga (lamb ribs) scored 8.85 at €24: soft, served hot, dense and lean enough that one portion feeds two. The critic orders it every visit and calls it the dish to order here without thinking. The kuzu kuşbaşı (lamb cubes) got 5.98: a heavy tomato-paste sauce that buries good meat. Open until 1am every day.

  • Eaten and paid: Lamb ribs (kuzu kaburga) 8.85, €24 (October 2026); Lamb cubes (kuzu kuşbaşı) 5.98, €24 (October 2026)

Şerifoğlu Café & Patisserie, Nieuw-West

Score: 6.42 2 reviews (6.75, 6.08)

The classic pistachio baklava scored 6.75 at €4.95: crunchy and full of pistachio, but too much sugar after the second bite and not enough butter. Acceptable for the Netherlands, says the critic. The pistachio tres leches cake scored 6.08: simple, not too sweet, nothing special. Open until 1am.

  • Eaten and paid: Baklava 6.75, €4.95 (March 2025); Tres Leches Cake 6.08, €8 (January 2025)

Kebapci Amsterdam, Nieuw-West

Score: 5.63 1 review

A mixed grill for two at €55 scored 5.63 in March 2025: a small amount for the price, an Adana with too much red pepper, and fatty lamb that was hard to eat. For grilled lamb, Kebaphan scored much higher.

  • Eaten and paid: Mixed grill 5.63, €55 (March 2025)

Amsterdam Oost

Pide country: one shop in the Dapperbuurt area and a Black Sea pide kitchen on the eastern docks.

restaurant esra, Oost

Sucuklu pide at restaurant esra, Amsterdam

Sucuklu pide at restaurant esra (August 2025).

Score: 8.48 2 reviews (9.13, 7.83)

Black Sea pide, eaten on SAIL Amsterdam day in August 2025. The sucuklu pide scored 9.13 at €24: the classic boat-shaped Karadeniz base, thick and crisp, with homemade sucuk, egg and a light cheese that reminded the critic of a Turkish breakfast. The peynirli pide (7.83, €25) had the same excellent dough with Turkish white cheese and mushrooms, but a pomegranate sauce made it too sour. Note the short hours: Thursday to Saturday evenings, plus Saturday lunch.

  • Eaten and paid: Sucuklu pide 9.13, €24 (August 2025); Peynirli pide 7.83, €25 (August 2025)

Nefis, Oost

Kuşbaşılı pide at Nefis, Amsterdam

Kuşbaşılı pide at Nefis (March 2026).

Score: 8.11 4 reviews (8.63, 8.44, 8.11, 7.25)

A pide and soup house in Oost, and a regular for our critic. The kuşbaşılı pide (8.63, €16) came hot with a good meat-to-dough ratio, and the critic orders it every month. The kelle paça soup scored 8.44 and 8.11 from two people on the same day in July 2026, €8 each (a half portion), with spices and garlic sauce on the side. The etli ekmek (7.25, €12) is thin and crisp; not Turkey, says the critic, but good quality for the Netherlands. Eat it fast.

  • Eaten and paid: Kuşbaşılı pide 8.63, €16 (March 2026); Kelle paça soup 8.44, €8 (July 2026); Kelle paça soup 8.11, €8 (July 2026); Etli ekmek 7.25, €12 (February 2025)

Amsterdam Zuid

One meyhane-style lokanta in Zuid, just off the Amstelveenseweg.

Lokanta Evden Uzakta, Zuid

Kokoreç at Lokanta Evden Uzakta, Amsterdam

Kokoreç at Lokanta Evden Uzakta (October 2025).

Score: 8.17 3 reviews (8.96, 8.75, 6.79)

A meyhane-style lokanta in Zuid, three dishes in October 2025. The kokoreç comes wrapped in börek, a new idea to the critic, and it worked: 8.96 at €17, hot and spicy, pricey but worth trying. The meyhane döneri (8.75, €32) is close to an İskender, with crisp bread, yoghurt, tomato sauce and butter, but thinly sliced tenderloin instead of döner meat. The acılı ezme (6.79) tasted fine but was blended to a paste; the critic wants to see the chopped ingredients.

  • Eaten and paid: Kokoreç 8.96, €17 (October 2025); Meyhane döneri 8.75, €32 (October 2025); Acılı ezme 6.79, €10 (October 2025)

Amsterdam Centrum

Modern Turkish brunch by the Rembrandtplein.

Snob Amsterdam, Centrum

Score: 6.47 3 reviews (8.54, 6.13, 4.75)

Modern Turkish brunch near the Rembrandtplein, three dishes in June 2025. The eggs Benedict with sucuk and yoghurt scored 8.54: perfectly poached eggs, the spicy sucuk a good match. The truffle kuymak (6.13) lacks the buttery depth of the Black Sea original, and the pistachio kadayıf (4.75) was too salty for a dessert.

  • Eaten and paid: Eggs Benedict 8.54, €18 (June 2025); Kuymak 6.13, €19 (June 2025); Kadaif 4.75, €9 (June 2025)
